    We frequently provide one-to-one training with both individuals and business organisations targeting areas that are in need of an update or for learners who would prefer direct training as apposed to a classroom enviroment.

    Training can be provided for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners across a range of topics including, an introduction to computing, all areas of ECDL and Advanced ECDL (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Publisher, Internet & E-mail, File Management), Accounts, Payroll, Web Design and also CV Prepatation and Interview Techniques.

    As well as offering ECDL and ECDL Advanced to our own students we also offer them to the general public.

    These exams can take place during the morning, afternoon, evening or at weekends by request. The exams we offer are based on a combination of theory and practical tests.

    Exams can be taken in any order and last for a duration of 45 minutes.

    In order to take an ECDL exam you must have a valid ICS Skills Card, if you do not have one; we can apply for one on your behalf before you take the exam.

    In order to sit an ECDL Advanced exam, you must have already completed your ECDL Exams successfully.

    We can also cater for those who don’t have the time to attend a class but would like to gain an ECDL or ECDL Advanced certificate. We can provide you with the required courseware so that you can study in your own time and sit an exam when it is convenient to you.

    Cost

    ECDL exams are €25 per module

    ICS Skills Card and 7 ECDL exams are €250

    ECDL Advanced exams are €75 per module

    Certified Training Professional is an international qualification in training which was developed by the ECDL Foundation and is licienced in Ireland by ICS SKILLS. CTP defines an objective standard for instructor led training and provides a mechanism for trainers to have their competence recognised and certified.

    The CTP programme has two options, for experienced trainers and for new or aspiring trainers.

    • Experienced trainers attens a 3 day CTP Certification workshop before completing a comprehensive report on their skills and abilities, called the Trainers Evidence Record.
    • New and aspiring trainers must attend a 12 week CTP Development course, which incorporates forty hours of training observation, before moving on to the CTP Certification phase of the programme.

    FAS has officially recognised the CTP qualification as a basis for inclusion in the FAS/EI Register of Trainers.

    In this information age, children will benefit from getting a head-start in IT, the ECDL syllabus describes the knowledge and the skills required to achieve the ECDL standard. It covers basic computer skills and the common applications in the work-place, home, school and in general. It is divided into seven modules, 6 practical and 1 theoretical.

    A test in each module must be passed before the ECDL certificate is awarded.

    Modules covered are:

    1. Basic concepts of IT
    2. Using the computer and managing files
    3. Word processing
    4. Spreadsheets
    5. Database/Filing Systems
    6. Presentation
    7. Information Network Services (Internet and E-mail)

    For several years ECDL has been the standard in basic skills, which is sought by employers, and desired by colleges and individuals alike. Now, in a more technologically mature society, requirements are multiplying and standards are rising. Candidates need the skills to deal with complex tasks, large documents, and high-level functionality. ECDL Advanced addresses the needs of this more sophisticated computer user in today’s society. The four applications which are covered in the ECDL Advanced programme, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database and Presentation, offer a broad range of skills to candidates with the same quality assured that they are accustomed to in the ECDL product range.

    Advanced Word Processing

    This module requires the candidate to produce advanced word processing outputs, illustrating sophisticated typographical, formatting and layout presentations, including tables, forms and graphics. The candidate will be required to use tools like macros and advanced mail merge options within the word processing application.

    Advanced Spreadsheets

    This module requires the candidate to edit and enhance numeric, text and graphical data, and to sort, query and link data. The candidate will be expected to use logical, statistical and mathematical functions. Ability to use analysis and audit tools is required, as is the ability to record and run macros.

    Advanced Databases

    This module requires the candidate to use the database to organise, extract, view and report on data using advanced data management skills. The candidate will understand the variety of ways that data can be related and organised, and to import, export and link data.

    Advanced Presentations

    This module requires the candidate to understand and apply the principle consideration in planning a presentation. Outputs utilising advanced formatting and layout techniques are required, along with the use of multimedia effects. The candidate will create advanced charts and graphs, and enhance the presentation using drawing and image tools.

    ECDL Advanced Certificate. If a learner continues to achieve all 4 modules they will also receive an ECDL Expert certificate.

    3 hour class once a week for 6 weeks- The ECDL Advanced is offered as 4 seperate courses. Learners can choose to do one module and take the relevant examination and then in the future opt to take another module and examination.

    The ECDL establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer in either a professional or personal capacity. IT is a certificate that verifies competence in computer use, making the holder readily mobile within Ireland and Internationally. Employers and job seekers all agree on the importance of this?standard definition of practical competence in Information Technology.
